David Koch
David Koch has loved art ever since he was in grade school
but didn’t realize that he could also make a living at it until his second year at
Utah State University. Graduating in 1989 with an illustration degree he worked as
an illustrator and graphic designer for several companies for the next seven years.
David’s passion for fine art started soon after graduation and he started selling
his artwork with a local gallery. As the demand grew for his paintings David began
to formulate a plan where he could devote more time to painting and in 1996 David
quit his full time job and started his own graphic design business with the intent
of setting aside more time for painting. Three years later David realized that his
business was successful but he had had even less time to paint than before, so with
some savings in the bank David decided to take the leap of faith and as of January
1999 David is devoting his full efforts to the fine art that is his passion.
“I enjoy painting various subjects including figures, still lifes and landscapes.
I try to capture the intimate aspects in my paintings and make the painting say more
than just the objects being painted.” David also strives to say as much as he can
about a subject with the fewest brush strokes. “I never cease to be amazed at how
a few well placed brush strokes can say so much,” he says.
David, his wife Lori and five children, Thomas, Hannah, Megan, Mitchell and Mallory
have a home and studio in Bountiful, Utah. “I am very blessed to be doing what I
love while enjoying the support and company of my family. I am very excited about
the future where there is so much to learn and discover.”
